A diamond seed is a tiny piece of diamond that is used to make a diamond. This seed is locked away in a special chamber that is made to look like the conditions found deep inside the Earth.
The pure carbon-covered seed will eventually turn into a man-made diamond that is chemically the same as a natural diamond.
High Pressure-High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) are the two methods used to create lab-created diamonds (CVD).
HPHT puts a lot of heat and pressure on the diamond seed and the carbon atoms that cover it. The heat is about 1,500 degrees Celsius, which is about 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit.
The pressure is 1.5 million pounds per square inch. CVD, on the other hand, uses less heat and pressure and instead uses a mixture of chemical gases that break down and harden into crystallized carbon atoms.
